Planning a Complete Overhaul of My Home Interior

I’ve thought more and more about redesigning my home for Spring recently. During the winter we had a leak in our chimney which has come through the brickwork and ruined our wallpaper. I’ve can’t grumble too much about this though, because it gives me an excuse to completely redecorate. It also means I get to do lots of my favourite thing: shopping for homeware.

Shopping local

I usually buy almost all of my homeware from the big online retailers, such as John Lewis and Wayfair, but I thought I would check out some local boutique shops to see if I could pick up something a bit different. We have a few of these quaint little shops in my area, but I thought I would first head to Pelham House Gallery in Cowes. Read on to see what gorgeous pieces and inspiration I found.

I’ve noticed that a big theme at the moment is contemporary metal homeware. PHG had a good choice of this kind of home accessories, all displayed beautifully. The metal storage solutions, such as baskets and crates, had all been teamed perfectly with cosy looking blankets and cushions.

Gorgeous kitchenware

I naturally gravitate towards kitchenware in any shop I go into. Usually I won’t leave without buying at least one piece of unnecessary crockery. I really love the below bucket of brushes as they give off a traditional feel and would look great in any or kitchen.

I have a bit of a thing for mugs, so I can’t step foot in a homeware shop without having a good old rummage through the mug choice. If my boyfriend could learn to wash up the mugs without butchering them then I probably wouldn’t need to buy so many. I’m working on this one, but the mug cupboard has sadly taken some casualties in the meantime.

I’m really into heavy stoneware mugs at the moment. I have two stoneware Le Creuset mugs in my kitchen which are the only two mugs that have made it through the washing up bowl with no casualties. My plan is to buy a whole new matching set of stoneware mugs this spring and up-cycle the old ones into something cute like candles.

Not so green-thumbed.

I am really loving cacti at the moment. Most of the plants in my house are half dead because I’m useless at remembering to water the things.

The solution? Get a cactus!
I’d never really been interested in cacti before but have found a new appreciation for them. They’re a great way to get a bit of nature into your home without having to invest too much time into upkeep. Ideal for hapless people like me who only remember to water their plants every 3 weeks.

You’re a woman after my own heart Pamela! I did buy the cactus and I have to say it’s looking pretty good so far. I also bought some succulents which are sadly looking a bit ropey, maybe I’m not quite ready for that level of commitment yet 😉
